Susanna Reich Releases Painting the Wild Frontier

Painting the Wild Frontier: The Art and Adventures of George Catlin
, by Susanna Reich, was published in August 2008 by Clarion Books. It received starred reviews in Booklist, School Library Journal, and Kirkus.

The 19th-century artist George Catlin painted Indian tribes from Alaska to Tierra del Fuego. The biography features Catlin's own paintings, as well as archival prints and photographs.

Author Hazel Rowley passes away at 59.

PEN mourns the loss of member Hazel Rowley, who died March 1st, 2011 at a New York hospital. 

Her debut work, Christina Stead: A Biography, was published in 1994.  Her following biographies, Richard Wright: The Life and Times and Tête-à-tête: The Lives and Loves of Simone de Beauvoir & Jean-Paul Sartre.   

As her obituary in The Australian states, "Her most recent work, a biography of Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt, was published last month to generous reviews in the US and Australia. Rowley had been due to start a national tour at this weekend's Perth Writers Festival."
