Two Poems on Mother's Day

    I know it is rather unusual, but my two sons were born in two different centuries. Gabriel, born in September 1992, is a child of the 20th century, whereas Martin, born in November 2001, belongs to the awakening of the 21st century instead.

    When I got pregnant for the second time, I decided that I had to write about this experience, which is, like the writing of poetry, solitary and unique. I wanted to focus on the biological aspect of motherhood: how one body grows within another body, in the same way a poem grows within us until it bursts out and has a life of its own.
