| | | | To get into the spirit of New York City my wife and I started at 62nd Street and walked down Broadway to Baruch College at Lexington and 25th. Some things never change. Taxi cabs filled the streets but none of the drivers made gestures or yelled curses at pedestrians crowding into the streets, crossing mid-block or crossing with a cautionary hand flashing in front of their faces. Nevertheless, pedestrians were as thoughtless as ever, perhaps more so.
There were messengers on bicycles but also bicycle lanes so they didn’t weave through both vehicle and pedestrian traffic. Rollerblade messengers were gone and so was dog poop that had made streets in the Big Apple messier than well-kept barnyards.
