      Patronized by the war-mongering Bush administration, the corrupt militarist Arroyo regime in the Philippines continues its systematic repression of journalists, writers and media personnel to preserve its brutal oppression of millions of workers, peasants, women, and professionals. Ten percent of 90 million Filipinos are forced to work abroad as domestics or contracted labor.  Despite over a thousand extra-judicial murders and abductions of dissenters and activists, popular resistance remains strong and resolute.
