Jeanne-Claude's memorial took place on Monday afternoon, April 27th, 2010 at the Metropolitan Museum and at the Boathouse in Central Park. A misty rain enveloped walkers with umbrellas entering the park. We clustered together and began to share Jeanne-Claude memories as we moved west of a pond toward the Boathouse. Upon entering, we were given bookbags with the face of Jeanne-Claude wrapped by Christo. Inside was a book of photographic memories, Jeanne-Claude's youthful beauty and her flaming cloud of red hair. Christo was greeting friends at the front of the room, and we spoke briefly about my most recent published essay naming him and his wife as among the twelve most innovative artists in the USA.
