Biography
Ziolkowska-Boehm was born in Lodz, Poland on 15 April 1949. As a student, she worked as the private assistant to the well-known Polish writer Melchior Wankowicz from 1972-1974. For her help and research with his latest book, Wankowicz dedicated that book to her, and in his last will and testament, he officially gave her all his archives.
Ziolkowska-Boehm received a scholarship from the Oxford Language Center (Oxford, England) in 1975. From 1977-1981, she worked as a member of the Repertoire Research Staff for the Warsaw TV Theater.
She subsequently was awarded scholarships/ fellowships by: The Ontario Ministry of Culture (Toronto, 1982), The Canadian Polish Research Institute (Toronto, 1982), The A. Mickiewicz Foundation (Toronto, 1983), The Institute of International Education (Fulbright, Washington, DC, 1985), The Kosciuszko Foundation (New York, 1990), American Fulbright Scholar (Warsaw University, 2006-2007)
Since April 1990, she has lived permanently in the United States. She continues to publish her books in Poland and writes for numerous magazines in the Polish language press in Poland, USA, Canada, France, and for English language periodicals in the USA.
The subjects of her books have been: the real life stories, Polish history, Polish writer Melchior Wankowicz, American Indian current status, and... her cat.
Five of her books had two or three editions, and they were on bestseller lists. One of her books received the title "Ksiazka Tygodnia" (Book of the Week), one was chosen as the best book of the year.
Recipient Kontrasty award 1980, Zloty Exlibris award Ksiaznica Pomorska 2001, The Delaware Division of the Arts award in the Literature-Creative Nonfiction discipline (2006), Union of Polish Writers Abroad, London (2007).

Ziolkowska-Boehm has written numerous books in her native language that were published in Poland. Two of these books were translated into English and published in Canada, and two in United States. Fragments of three of her books were translated into German and published in an anthology (Nordost-Archiv, Luneburg, 2001).
She is married to Norman Boehm and has one son Thomas Tomczyk (publisher, managing editor "Bay Islands Voice", author Roatan Magic Hidden Jewel of the Western Caribbean) .
