Chana Bloch
Berkeley, CA

TRANSLATES: Hebrew, Yiddish

Chana Bloch is a poet, translator, and literary critic. Among her published works are three books of poems, The Secrets of the Tribe, The Past Keeps Changing, and the prize-winning Mrs. Dumpty. Her translations from ancient and contemporary Hebrew poetry include four books by the Israeli poets Yehuda Amichai and Dahlia, as well as the biblical Song of Songs, which she co-translated. She has also written a critical study of George Herbert.

Bloch is Professor Emerita of English Literature and Creative Writing at Mills College, where she taught for many years and directed the Creative Writing Program. She lives in Berkeley, California.
