Dennis Barone
Saint Josep College, West Hartford, CT 06117

Dennis Barone is Professor of English and Director of American Studies at Saint Joseph College.  He is the author of three books of short fiction, including Echoes which received the America Award for most outstanding book of fiction by a living American author in 1997.  Left Hand Books published his selected poems, Separate objects, in 1998.  He is the author of two novellas: Temple of the Rat and God's Whisper.  As an editor he has prepared the first book on Paul Auster and a collection of poems by Emanuel Carnevali.  He is also co-editor of the well-known anthology The Art of Practice: 45 Contemporary Poets.  His essays on American literature and culture have appeared in journals such as Citique and Italian Americana.  He is a graduate of Bard College and the University of Pennsylvania.  In 1992 he held the Thomas Jefferson Chair, a distinguished Fulbright lecturing award, in the Netherlands.
