Esther Allen


Esther Allen was born in Auburn, California, in 1962.

Allen was co-director of 2005 and 2006 PEN World Voices and is an assistant professor at Seton Hall University. Her translations include The Selected Writings of José Martí, Lands of Memory by Felisberto Hernández, Dark Back of Time by Javier Marías, The Tale of the Rose by Consuelo de Saint Exupèry, Dancing with Cuba: A Memoir of the Revolution by Alma Guillermoprieto, The Nubian Prince by Juan Bonilla, and, most recently, In Her Absence by Antonio Munoz Molina.

She is an assistant professor at Seton Hall University, and the author of an International PEN report on Translation and Globalization.
