Heather Cleary


TRANSLATES: Spanish

Heather Cleary holds an MA in Comparative Literature from NYU and is completing a PhD with a focus on contemporary Latin American literature and culture at Columbia University. Her translations have appeared in journals including Two Lines, Habitus, The Literary Review and New York Tyrant; her reviews of literature in translation have been published by, or are forthcoming with, Words Without Borders, Big Other, and The Quarterly Coversation. She received a PEN Translation Fund grant for her work on The Persuasion of Days, a collection of poems by Oliverio Girondo (1891-1967).

She is currently translating two novels by contemporary Argentine author Sergio Chejfec for Open Letter Books. The Planets is due out in the summer of 2012, followed by The Dark (2013).
