James Brasfield

TRANSLATES: Ukrainian

James Brasfield has received Fellowships in poetry from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts. A collection of his poems, Ledger of Crossroads (Louisiana State University Press), is forthcoming in autumn, 2009. His co-translation of The Selected Poems of Oleh Lysheha (Harvard University Press) received The American Association for Ukrainian Studies Prize for Translation and The PEN Prize for Poetry in Translation. A translation from the book received a Pushcart Prize. Twice a Senior Fulbright Fellow to Ukraine, he has taught at The Yuri Fedkovych State University of Chernivtsi and at The National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy. He teaches in the English Department at Penn State.
