Oonagh Stransky
New York, NY and Arezzo, Italy

Oonagh Stransky was born in Paris and is a resident of New York City and Arezzo, Italy. She grew up in the Middle East and in London, attended Mills College and UC Berkeley, Middlebury College, Universita di Firenze, and Columbia University. She has taught English for the past 10 years and is an enthusiastic translator of Italian literature.

Stransky was a board member of the American Literary Translators Association from 2003-2005. In 2004, she was a jury member for the PEN/Book-of-the-Month Club Translation Prize. Stransky's translations of Born Twice and Day After Day were both nominated for the Dublin Impac Award and Almost Blue won the Booksense 76 Award in 2000. Currently she is working on the translation of Roberto Saviano's collection of articles entitled La Bellezza e L'inferno, which will be published in 2010 by Quercus/ Maclehose Press, UK.
