Robert Lima is a poet, literary critic, biographer, editor, bibliographer, and translator who first taught at Hunter College, CUNY and, since 1965,  at the Pennsylvania State University.  After 40 years in the profession, he retired early in 2002 as Professor Emeritus of Spanish and Comparative Literatures and Fellow Emeritus  of the Institute for the Arts and Humanistic Studies.

He was involved in the New York City poetry scene in the 1960s, reading weekly at Cafe Cino, Judson Memorial Church, Tenth Street Coffeehouse, Les Deux Megots, and other venues, as well as performing occasionally at La Mama and other NYC stages. He co-edited the anthology  Seventh Street: Poems of ' Les Deux Megots,Seventh Street Review,  and the second Judson Review .

Knight Commander in the Order of Queen Isabel of Spain, Academician in the North American Academy of the Spanish Language, and Corresponding Member of Spain's Royal Academy, Lima is the author of 26 books (criticism, poetry, biography, translation, bibliography) and has published widely in U.S. and foreign periodicals. He was a Senior Fulbright Scholar to Perú and has lectured and read his poetry throughout the U.S. and abroad.  In Cameroon, he was named Fon of the Menda Nkwe people. He is listed in Who's Who in the World, Who's Who in America, World Who's Who of Authors, International Authors and Writers Who's Who, and other international writers' directories.

Currently working on: a family memoir; new critical assessments of Lorca's theatre and Borges's stories; a book on worldwide travel experiences; and a book of anecdotes on writers, painters, musicians, critics, et. al.,  met  over many years.
