Julian Semilian
New York/North Carolina

TRANSLATES: Romanian

Julian Semilian is a poet, translator, novelist and filmmaker.  He was born in Romania and presently teaches film editing at the North Carolina School of the Arts, School of Filmmaking, after a twenty-four year career as a film editor in Hollywood where he has worked on more than 50 movies and TV shows. Among the films he edited are: Death Wish 2, Scanner Cop, The Landlady, Daddy’s Girl, The Secretary, Distant Cousins, Captured, etc. Semilian also holds an adjunct faculty position at Columbia University, where he teaches a master editing class each September. In the fall semester of 2000 Semilian taught a film editing class at Duke University.
