Last PWV Post
Just back to Buffalo after 5 hectic days dashing from one PWV event to the next and trying to catch up with all of my old friends in between.
....
The last event I attended was "Death in Spring and The Time of the Doves: Mercè Rodoreda." It featured a reading of Mercè Rodoreda's story "The Time of the Doves" by Jessica Lange. I guess I hadn't read the event description terribly closely, as I didn't realize Jessica Lange was reading until they introduced her. I liked the story, which is told from the point of view of a woman who marries a revolutionary in the Spanish Civil War, quite a lot, but I think I was too tired to appreciate Ms. Lange's emotional reading of the text. I was happy to see WNY comptriot Chad Post, the hardest working man in the translation business, get a chance to pitch his press, Open Letter, and its newest title, Death in Spring, also by Mercè Rodoreda. Take a bow, Chad.
....
One final note on PWV:
As someone who plans events featuring international authors for a living, I have to say I am in awe at the size and scope of PWV. The sheer number and variety of events, not to mention the quality of the authors representing such a multitude of cultures and viewpoints, is, in a word, staggering. My hat's off to Caro Llewellyn and company for pulling it off.
Anyhow, I hope to return again next year for PWV.
Until then it's back to my real blog:

In case you are interested. I am currently writing a sort of memoir by picking up all the books in my library, in alphabetical order, and trying to recall portions of my life based on each one.
