Sure, I've got an iPod, but I like to fire up one of my portable cassette players (preferably a Panasonic), boost the bass and go through life hearing one continuous album. Perhaps even twice in a row, with the auto-reverse on. No shuffling here. The listener experience is exactly in the order that the artist (or at least the artist's record label) originally intended.

Think of all the cassettes that aren't available on CD. What about the original mix of Iggy & the Stooges "Raw Power" album? The CD now in print was remixed by the Ig himself. The only way to hear the original is on vinyl (not portable) or on the audiophile's choice -- cassette!

Sure you have to rewind and clean off the tapeheads once in a while (or never), but it's a labor of love!

And I challenge anyone who lives in New York City to tell me that a digital music player sounds any better than a cassette player while waiting for and then riding a bus or a train.

Natch.
