2014 PEN Literary Gala // PEN/Barbara Goldsmith Freedom to Write Award: Ilham Tohti (audio)

Ilham Tohti, Uyghur economist and writer, recieved the PEN/Barbara Goldsmith Freedom to Write Award which is awarded to a currently imprisoned writer each year at the Gala. His daughter Jewher Ilham, a student at Indiana University, accepted the award on her father’s behalf at the PEN 2014 Literary Gala at the American Museum of Natural History in New York on May 5.
