G.M. Goshgarian, who was educated at Yale and UCLA and has taught at universities in France, Armenia, and Germany, is an independent translator from Armenian, German, and French into English.
His most recent published translations include Esther Benbassa, Suffering as Identity: The Jewish Paradigm (London: Verso, March 2010) and Gilbert Achcar, The Arabs and the Holocaust (New York: Holt/Metropolitan, forthcoming in April 2010). He has also translated three volumes of writings by, and also written about, the philosopher Louis Althusser. He is currently translating more fiction by Hagop Oshagan as well as an essay by his son, the late Vahe Oshagan.
He divides his time between Paris, Berlin, and Yerevan.
