Hiromi Kawakami is one of Japan’s most prolific and highly-acclaimed novelists.
Author of five novels and several short story collections, Kawakami won the Akutagawa Prize, the Ito Sei Literature Prize, the Woman Writer’s Prize, and the 2001 Tanizaki Prize for The Briefcase (forthcoming in 2012 in an English translation).
Her novel, Manazuru (2010), was translated into English by Michael Emmerich.
