Amélie Nothomb was born in Kobe, Japan, to Belgian parents.
Nothomb is the author of more than 20 novels, including Toyko Fiancée and Hygiene and the Assassin. Her books havebeen translated into more than thirty-five languages. She has won many awards, including the French Academy’s 1999 Grand Prix for the Novel, the René-Falletprize, the Alain-Fournier prize, and the Grand Prix Giono in 2008.
She lives in Paris and Brussels.
