Nadine Gordimer
Nadine Gordimer was born in Springs, South Africa, on November 20, 1923. She has lived in South Africa all her life, with frequent world travels.

Her novels include 2005's Get a Life, and her most recent book is a collection of short stories called Beethoven Was One-Sixteenth Black.

She received the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1991.

Gordimer is vice-president of International PEN, Commandeur de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in France, Order of the Southern Cross in South Africa, and Order of the Presidential Medal of Honor in Chile.
