Carlos Fresneda was born in Madrid in January 1963.
Originally educated as a journalist at Complutense University, Fresnesda has worked with the Spanish Newspaper El Pais, and now serves as El Mundo’s U.S. correspondent. Fresneda is a founding member of El Mundo and has worked with the paper since the early '90s, also serving as the paper’s Italy correspondent.
Fresneda has written 3 books, including the recent The Simple Life. He is a the recipient of a Fulbright to Washington D.C., and has two forthcoming books: The Daily Utopia and The Other Side of America, which focuses on alternative living, progressive thinking, and social change in the U.S. He also recently co-edited Julio Anguita Parrado: medalla sin batalla, a collection of the works and writings of El Mundo’s Julio Anguita, who was killed in the Iraq in 2003.
