An author, journalist and writing instructor, Kenji Jasper is the author of four novels: Dark, Dakota Grand, Seeking Salamanca Mitchell, and forthcoming Snow. His first work of nonfiction, The House on Childress Street, a memoir about his grandfather, was published in January of 2006. He is co-editor of Beats Rhymes and Life, an anthology of writings in hip hop culture to be published by Harlem Moon Books in May 2007 and is the head of The Armory Press.
His writings have appeared in The Village Voice, VIBE, Essence, The Charlotte Observer, The Chicago Sun-Times, and on National Public Radio’s Morning Edition. A native of Washington, DC, he currently lives in Brooklyn.
