Sufjan Stevens
Sufjan Stevens is a critically acclaimed indie-rock musician from Petosky, Michigan. Musically inclined from an early age, he released his first solo album, A Sun Came, in 2000 on Asthmatic Kitty Records, a music label that he founded with his step-father. A self-taught musician, Stevens plays the oboe, recorder, banjo, guitar, vibraphone, bass, drums, and piano.

After moving to New York to attend the graduate writing program at The New School for Social Research, Stevens released Enjoy Your Rabbit (2001), a concept album based on the Chinese Zodiac. He has since released numerous albums, including Michigan (2003), a concept album about the state of Michigan; Seven Swans (2004); Illinoise (2005), an album about the state of Illinois; The Avalanche (2006); and Songs for Christmas (2006). Illinois reached #1 on Billboard's US Heatseekers album chart and #121 on Billboard's Top 200 album chart. The Avalanche debuted at #71 on Billboard's Top 200 album chart.

Stevens currently resides in Brooklyn, where he staffs the Brooklyn office of Asthmatic Kitty Records.
