Charles Simic
Charles Simic was born in Yugoslavia in 1938. He served as the U.S. Poet Laureate from 2007 to 2008.

Simic is a regular contributor to The New York Review of Books and the London Review of Books. His awards include the Pulitzer Prize, the Griffin Prize, a MacArthur Fellowship, and the Wallace Stevens Award from the Academy of American Poets.

He is Emeritus Professor at the University of New Hampshire and the Distinguished Visiting Poet at New York University.

He lives in Strafford, New Hampshire.
