Thant Myint-U was educated at Harvard and Trinity College Cambridge. He
completed his PhD in modern history at Cambridge
and is a former Fellow of Trinity College, Cambridge. He has also served on three United
Nations peacekeeping operations, in Cambodia and in the former Yugoslavia as well as for six years with the UN
in New York.
He is the author of three books, including The Making of Modern Burma and The River of Lost Footsteps. He has also written for The New York Times, The Washington Post, The International Herald Tribune, The London Review of Books, The New Statesman, The Far Eastern Economic Review, Time magazine and The Times Literary Supplement, among others.
