Jutta Richter has written more than twenty books, for which she has won
many awards, including the German Youth Literature Award, the Herman
Hesse Prize, and the Pied Piper's Prize of Hamelyn. She published her
first book at the age of 15, after having spent a year in Detroit as an
exchange student. Two of her books have been translated into English by
Milkweed Editions: The Cat: Or, How I Lost Eternity and The Summer of the Pike.
She divides her time between Münsterland, Germany, and Tuscany.
