Barbara Epler graduated from Harvard in 1984, and began working at New Directions that same year. She
became the editor-in-chief in 1996 and vice-president in 2004.
She has also been a contributing
editor for Grand Street and helped judge the PEN/Nelson Algren Fiction Award, the NYU Emerging Writers Award, and the PEN Translation Fund Grants.
