Joan Margarit
Joan Margarit is one of Catalonia’s leading contemporary poets.

Born in 1938 and growing up in a time in which the public use of Catalan was banned, Margarit wrote his early poetry in Castilian but turned to Catalan in the 1980s. In 2005, he received the Crítica Serra d’Or Prize for Càlcul d’estructures. Casa de misericòrdia and Barcelona amor final are his latest books.

A architect of structural engineering, Joan Margarit has been a professor at the Barcelona School of Architecture since 1968.
