While incarcerated Chris Everley became ordained as a minister on February 19, 2007, with Universal Life Church in Modesto, California, through the Educational Department. He obtained a Master of Religion degree on November 1, 2007, and an honorary Doctor of Divinity Degree on December 18, 2007. He also received a Doctorate in Metaphysics on January 14, 2008, and certification as Pastoral Counselor with Universal Life Church.
