Sebastian Barry
Jerry Bauer
Sebastian Barry was born in Dublin, Ireland in 1955.

His novel The Secret Scripture won the 2008 Costa Novel Award, the 2008 Costa Book of the Year Award, and was shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize. Barry’s other awards include The American Ireland Fund Literary Award, The Christopher Ewart- Biggs Memorial Prize, The London Critics Circle Award, and The Kerry Group Irish Fiction Prize.

His plays include Boss Grady’s Boys, The Steward of Christendom, Our Lady of Sligo, The Pride of Parnell Street, and, most recently, Dallas Sweetman.

Among his novels are The Whereabouts of Eneas McNulty, Annie Dunne, and A Long Long Way, which was shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize.

His poetry includes The Water-Colourist, Fanny Hawke Goes to the Mainland Forever, and The Pinkening Boy.

He lives in Wicklow with his wife, Ali, and three children, Merlin, Coral, and Tobias.
