Javier Calvo was born in Barcelona in 1973.
He is a short-story writer, novelist, screenwriter, and translator, and the author of four works of fiction.
Calvo first received wide critical acclaim for El Dios Reflectante (The Reflecting God), which was published in 2003. His most recent novel, Mundo Maravilloso (Wonderful World), was a finalist for the 2008 José Manuel Lara Foundation Award and was published in English translation in March.
He also frequently collaborates with the screenwriter and director Roger Gual.
He splits his time between Barcelona and Brooklyn with his wife Mara Faye and their daughter.
