Nabeel Yasin is of one Iraq’s most celebrated poets and is best known for his epic poem, Brother Yasin.
Yasin was a young but highly-acclaimed poet when the régime stamped the words "Enemy of the State" on his passport, forcing him to abandon his home, go into hiding and, eventually, to flee abroad. His life and experiences inspired Jo Tatchell's Nabeel's Song, which was shortlisted for the Costa Book Awards.
Since 1990, Yasin has lived in the U.K. with his wife and two sons.
