Andrea Davis Pinkney
Dwight Carter
Andrea Davis Pinkney was born in Washington, D.C.

She has written more than 20 books for children, most recently Boycott Blues: How Rosa Parks Inspired a Nation, which received multiple starred reviews, and was named a Booklist “Top 10 Black History Books for Youth” title.

She is the recipient of the Coretta Scott King Author Honor, the Carter G. Woodson Award, and the Parenting Publication Gold Medal. Pinkney, who is Vice President, Executive Editor for Scholastic, has worked in the book publishing and magazine fields for many years, and in 2008 she was named one of the “25 Most Influential Black Women in Business” by The Network Journal.

She lives in Brooklyn, New York.
