Currently Children’s Poet Laureate, she has written more than 45 books for children, all but one in verse. A House Is a House for Me won a National Book Award, and the You Read to Me, I’ll Read to You series has been on The New York Times best-seller list.

She recently co-edited an anthology of poetry with fellow PEN Member Linda Winston: The Tree That Time Built, which will be published in October.
