Joseph Boyden, born 1966, is a mixed-blood Canadian writer.
An MFA graduate from the University of New Orleans, he has worked as a professor of Aboriginal programs in Ontario, and since returned to work in the MFA program at his alma mater.
His first novel, Three Day Road, published in 11 languages was a finalist for the Governor General’s Award for Fiction. His new novel, Through Black Spruce, won Canada’s 2008 Scotiabank Giller Prize.
He divides his time between northern Ontario and New Orleans, Louisiana.
