Russell Shorto is the author of the bestselling book about the Dutch founding of Manhattan, The Island at the Center of the World, which won the New York City Book Award. His most recent book, Descartes’ Bones, was published in 2008.
He is a contributing writer for The New York Times Magazine and the director of the John Adams Institute in Amsterdam.
He lives in Amsterdam.
