Álvaro Enrigue was the literary editor of the magazine Letras Libres and has contributed to Vuelta, Lateral, and Insula.
He has taught Latin American literature and creative writing in the U.S. and abroad, and is the author of the novels La muerte de un instalador; El cementerio de sillas; and Vidas, perpendiculars; and the short story collections Virtudes capitales and Hipotermia.
He received the Joaquín Mortiz prize for first novel in 1996.
