Matthew G. Walker
With the support of a brother and stepmother, who bought him a typewriter and books on how to become a writer, and who believed he had stories to share, Matthew began teaching himself.

With several of his poems published in an anthology by the Stillwater Poetry Group, the Third Prize in drama in the 2009 PEN Prison Writing Contest, and a short story, "Mrs. Diggs," set to be published in the May/June issue of Focal Point, he has shown himself to be an emerging writer. Anxious to continue his journey, he is working on a collection of short stories and a novel, titled Acts of Injustice: the first in a trilogy following a lifer's determination to escape prison at any cost.

Besides working toward a career as a writer, Matthew spends his time drawing, painting, working out, and reading daily.

With God and my family’s help, I continue to write and to grow. With help from many others along the way, I am becoming a better writer and a better man.
