Joseph Dole
Joseph Dole is currently serving a life-without-parole sentence in Tamms Correctional Center in Tamms, Illinois. He began to write seven years ago. His first essay was included in the book Lockdown Prison Heart, and since then, he has written a number of articles, essays, research papers, and proposals, two of which were catalysts for Illinois legislation. He has won two PEN Prison Writing Awards, the first for “Unilaterally Punitive,” which was recently accepted for publication in The Journal for Prisoners on Prisons, and the second for “Juvenile Adults.” His work has also been published in the Statesville Speaks newsletter, Grapevine Newsletter, The Insider Magazine, Prison Legal News Magazine, and The Public I Newspaper.
