Elena Milashina exposes corruption and abuses committed by her government. After the murder of her colleague and world-renowned rights champion Anna Politkovskaya, she carried on Anna's work in Russia’s turbulent North Caucasus and became involved in Novaya Gazeta’s investigation of Anna’s murder.
In the past two years, Elena published articles on lawless counter-terrorism practices, extra-judicial killings, and collective punishment in Chechnya. She has also written about the war in South Ossetia.
