Brian Floca made his illustrating debut with Avi's City of Light, City of Dark, a graphic novel named a Publisher's Weekly Best Book of the Year. He has illustrated Avi's Poppy Stories series, including Poppy, winner of the Boston Globe-Horn Book Award; Megan McDonald's The Hinky-Pink, an ALA Notable Book; and Sandra Jordan and Jan Greenberg's Ballet for Martha, coming in 2010. He has written and illustrated Moonshot: The Flight of Apollo 11, a New York Times Best Illustrated Children's Book of 2009; Lightship, a Robert F. Sibert Honor Book; and The Racecar Alphabet, an ALA Notable Book.
