José Luís Peixoto
Adriana Freire
José Luís Peixoto was born in 1974 in Galveias, Portugal.

He has published both fiction and poetry and was awarded the Young Creator Award in 1997, 1998, and 2000. In 2001, his novel Nenhum Olhar (Blank Gaze) was awarded the José Saramago Literary Award. His fiction and his poetry are represented in anthologies on all five continents.

Peixoto is also the author of the play Anathema, which premiered in 2005 at the Theatre de la Bastille in Paris. His play À Manhã premiered in 2006 at the Teatro São Luiz in Lisbon.

His novels have been translated in France, Italy, Bulgaria, Turkey, Finland, Holland, Spain, Czech Republic, Croatia, Belarus, and Brazil, and will soon be published in the United Kingdom, Hungary, and Japan.
