Olga Tokarczuk

Polish author Olga Tokarczuk’s books have been translated into Bulgarian, Catalan, Chinese, Czech, Danish, Dutch, Estonian, Finnish, French, German, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Lithuanian, Macedonian, Norwegian, Romanian, Russian, Serbo-Croatian, Spanish, Swedish, and Ukrainian. In 2015 alone she has won the Nike Prize, Brueckepreis, and the prestigious annual literary award from Poland’s Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, and been shortlisted for the Angelus Central European Literature Award, among other honors. She is a two-time winner of Poland’s highest literary prize, for her novels The Books of Jacob and Runners. Her other books include House of Day, House of Night, and Primeval and Other Times. She lives and works in the countryside near Nowa Ruda, in southwestern Poland.
