PEN WRITERS' FUND FOR VICTIMS OF HURRICANE KATRINA
PLEASE NOTE: The PEN Writers’ Fund for victims of Hurricane Katrina is no longer accepting applications.

The Fund reviewed 48 cases and gave grants to 28 writers affected by the hurricane. In total the Fund distributed over $16,000 in a two-month period. Processing time for grants was kept to an average of four days. PEN is grateful for the support of the Lannan Foundation in particular and also the New York State Council for the Arts, in addition to the generosity of PEN members and the reading public, who donated both their time and money. The PEN Writers’ Fund will continue to help authors affected by the hurricanes that devastated the region through the year-round fund.
