Milton Hatoum
Milton Hatoum Milton Hatoum was born in Manaus, Brazil in 1952.

Hatoum has taught at the University of Amazonas and University of California (Berkeley).

Hatoum's first novel and second novels, A Tale of a Certain Orient and The Brothers, were awarded the Jabuti Best Novel of the Year in 1990 and 2001. His third novel, Cinzas do Norte (The Ashes of the Amazon) was published in 2005. He is currently writing a novella on an Amazonian myth for the series on myths, to be published by Canongate.
