Tonya Bolden
Tonya Bolden Tonya Bolden was born New York City in 1959.

Her books include 33 Things Every Girl Should Know; The Champ: The Story of Muhammad Ali, illustrated by R. Gregory Christie; Tell All the Children Our Story: Memories and Mementos of Being Young and Black in America, a 2002 School Library Journal Best Book of the Year; Wake Up Our Souls: A Celebration of Black American Artists, a YALSA 2005 Best Book for Young Adults, and Maritcha: A Nineteenth Century American Girl, a YALSA 2006 Best Book for Young Adults, an ALSC 2006 Notable Children’s Book, and a 2006 Coretta Scott King Author Honor Book.

Her most recent book is Cause: Reconstruction America, 1863–1877.
