Jayne Cortez
Jayne Cortez Jayne Cortez was in Fort Huachuca, Arizona on May 10, 1936.

She is the author of 10 books of poems and her poems have been published in anthologies, journals, and magazines such as Postmodern American Poetry, Daughters of Africa, Poems for the Millennium, Mother Jones, and The Jazz Poetry Anthology.

She is the recipient of award from the New York Foundation on the Arts, the National Endowment for the Arts, the International African Festival Award, the Langston Hughes Award, and the American Book Award.

Most recently, her band has released their newest album, Borders of Disorderly Time. She currently lives in New York City.
