Nadezhda Azhgikhina
Nadezhda Azhgikhina Nadezdha (Nadia) Azhgikhina founded the Association of Russian Women Journalists in 1992. Between 1995 and 2001, she was a staff journalist on the daily Nezavisimaya gazeta (Moscow Independent), where she inaugurated the first women's page in a Russian newspaper. When its founder and editor was suddenly fired by the paper's owner in 2001, she became a staff member of the Secretariat of the Union of Russian Journalists.

A board member of Women's WORLD, Azhigikina is co-editor of the women's studies journal, We/Myi: The Women's Dialogue, and teaches journalism at Moscow University.
