Frank Bidart
|
Frank Bidart was born in Bakersfield,
California in 1939.
He has published five books of
poetry, including In the Western Night: Collected Poems 1965-90. His
fifth volume, Desire, was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize, National
Book Award, and National Book Critics Circle Award. He has received many honors, among them the Academy's
Wallace Stevens Award, the Morton Dauwen Zabel Award given by the American Academy of Arts and Letters and the
Shelley Award of the Poetry Society of America. Bidart was elected a Chancellor
of The Academy of American Poets in 2003.
He lives in Cambridge,
Massachusetts and teaches at Wellesley College. |
